Listening and publishing are licensed differently
Reader apps are generally licensed for personal listening, and NaturalReader offers separate commercial options for voiceovers. Before you publish audio from any text to speech tool, check which licence covers your use. With AI Audiobooks, you own the audio you generate from text you hold the rights to.
NaturalReader and AI Audiobooks, feature by feature
NaturalReader has several editions and plans, so its column is a general description. Check their site for the version you use.

Who NaturalReader suits best
Readers who want to listen, not produce. Open a PDF, a Word file or a web page and listen at your own speed. That is its core job, and it does it on several platforms.
Writers proofreading a draft. Hearing a chapter read aloud catches missing words and clumsy rhythm, and one voice is plenty for that.
People who need reading support. For eye strain, dyslexia or reading on the move, a reader app is the direct route.
Voiceover users with a commercial plan. If you already hold a NaturalReader commercial licence that covers your work, short voiceovers may not need another tool.
Proofreading by ear: two ways to hear your draft
Listening to a manuscript is one of the best editing habits there is, and reader apps made it popular with writers. A single voice reading at pace exposes typos, repeated words and sentences that run out of breath.
A cast adds a second test: whether your dialogue attribution works. If the studio hands a line to the wrong character, a reader might stumble there too. Hearing each character in their own voice also shows quickly when two people sound alike on the page. Text to speech for writers covers that editing workflow.
Choosing a narrator you can hear for nine hours
A reader voice only has to be clear. An audiobook narrator has to be pleasant for a whole book, suit the genre and stay distinct from the characters around it. The library holds 137 voices in 13 languages, with English the most polished: 70 Gemini Flash TTS voices on the Standard and Lite models, and 67 ElevenLabs voices on Premium and Expressive.
Audition two or three narrators on the same page of your book, not on a sample sentence. Then give the leads voices that contrast with the narrator in pitch or accent, and use bracket directions such as [warmly] or [tense, low] only where a scene turns. What a book costs to produce, by length

What a produced audiobook file gives your listeners
Named chapters
Chapter markers carry your own titles, so a listener can jump straight to “Chapter 12: The Ferry”. The M4B audiobook maker page shows how they are built.
A cast that stays put
Each character keeps one voice for the whole book, and a saved cast carries into the sequel.
Cover and tags
Title, author and cover travel inside the M4B, so players show the right name and artwork on the lock screen.
