Is there a free AI audiobook generator?
Yes. As a free audiobook maker, importing, chapter detection and casting cost nothing and run in your browser. New Google sign-ups get 100 free credits, valid for 7 days: about 12 minutes of Standard audio, with no card required. Try a short passage with any voice; usage depends on text length and voice tier. Can I convert an ebook, EPUB or PDF to an audiobook?
Yes. The ebook to audiobook converter handles EPUB, PDF, DOCX, TXT and Markdown. EPUB chapters come from the book’s table of contents, and text-based PDFs are reflowed into paragraphs first. DRM-protected EPUBs and scanned PDFs without a text layer are not supported yet.
How many voices can a multi-voice audiobook have?
A narrator plus up to ten named characters per book, with an “Other voices” role for minor speakers. You can recast any role and keep the same cast across every book in a series.
Can I sell or publish an AI-narrated audiobook?
You own the audio you generate from text you hold the rights to. Store rules differ: at the time of writing, Audible’s ACX does not accept AI-narrated titles uploaded by authors, while many other retailers and direct sales do. Check each store’s current policy before you publish.
How long does it take to make an audiobook with AI?
With the AI audiobook generator, a typical chapter of 3,000 to 5,000 words is ready in a few minutes, so a full-length novel takes hours rather than the weeks a recording and editing schedule needs.
How much does an AI audiobook cost?
Credits are charged per 1,000 characters of text. Standard voices work out to roughly $9 to $12 per finished hour of audio and premium voices a little more, compared with the hundreds of dollars per finished hour a human narrator usually charges.
Which audiobook format should I choose, M4B or MP3?
Both are standard audiobook file formats. M4B is a single audiobook file with built-in chapter markers and bookmarks, preferred by Apple Books and most audiobook apps. MP3 plays everywhere; we export one MP3 per chapter.
Which languages does the AI narrator support?
English voices are the most polished. The voice library also has Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Hindi, Russian, Arabic and Dutch narrators.
Can I narrate the audiobook in my own voice?
Not yet. Voice cloning is on the roadmap. For now you can cast from 137 standard and premium AI voices.
Can I use it as an AI audiobook reader for books I want to hear?
Yes. Upload a DRM-free book you own or a public-domain classic, generate the chapters and listen in any player. The AI narrator reads each character in its own voice instead of one flat text-to-speech voice.
Is my manuscript kept private?
Your file is read in your browser. Only the lines you choose to generate are sent to the speech model, and we don’t use your manuscript to train AI models.
